Three Oakridge storefronts were badly damaged in a fire early Sunday morning. Oakridge fire responded to the call around 5:30 a.m. When crews arrived on scene, they say they saw fire showing through the front of one of the businesses. Firefighters battled the flames for over three hours. There were 13 firefighters from Oakridge, five from Dexter and four from Lowell on scene. Aric Higdon, an Oakridge firefighter, said it looks like the fire started on the west end of the building, but the scene is an ongoing investigation. He said no one was inside and no one was injured from the flames. The three businesses inside the building were Lion Mountain Bakeries, a bike shop, and an animal clinic. Donna Tipton lives one block away from where the fire started. She said the bakery was a great place to visit and that the owner put a lot of work into creating a welcoming atmosphere. Tipton said the owner lost everything. "The animal clinic is really important for our community and they're only up here once a week. So we're glad they're saving the animal clinic, but yeah, it's pretty sad," Tipton said. The fire is still under investigation. If anyone has any information, he or she is encouraged to call the Oakridge Police Department or Oakridge Fire.
