Firefighters extinguished a burning excavator before the flames could spread to a rail car filled with grain. The Lebanon Fire District responded at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday to a loading facility at Gore Drive near Langmack Road. Crews found a Hitachi excavator burning next to a loaded rail car. "A quick knock down by the crew of Engine 34 prevented the fire from spreading to the rail car and causing further damage," the fire district said. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
