Firefighters were called to the residence on the 1900 block of Douglas Street at 1:45 a.m., according to Forest Grove Fire & Rescue.
One of the families affected by the fire told KOIN 6 News they’re glad it happened over the weekend because people were up late to sound the alarm.
“Had it been a school night I don’t know if we would have gotten out safely, because you know 10 p.m. is bedtime,” resident Leilani Freeman said. Freeman’s son, Caleb Heiner, said he and 3 friends were playing video games when they started to smell smoke. He said his sister went and banged on a neighbor’s door because she knew they had a baby.
