Irresponsible camping led to a vegetation fire at Keizer Rapids Park Monday morning, fire officials said. Keizer Fire District crews responded to reports of a brush and wood fire shortly before 8 a.m. and remained on scene two hours later as five firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. In a posting on Facebook, the fire district attributed the fire on irresponsible camping in the park. A walker reported the flames to Keizer fire after spotting smoke on their early morning stroll through the park. The site was littered with cigarette butts and garbage, officials said.
