Two Hillsboro residents are now without a home after flames tore through their trailer. Firefighters responded to the trailer on Southeast Maple Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Monday and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows and door. Crews from Hillsboro Fire and Rescue were able to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes and were venting smoke from the structure. The trailer was a total loss, however. The homeowners told investigators they were in the trailer when the smoke alarm went off in the hallway. The man living there discovered the fire in the bedroom and tried to smother it with a blanket but burned his hands.
