Two engines, a ladder truck and a command vehicle from the Albany Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a house fire in the 700 block of 16th Avenue southwest in Albany. Albany Deputy Fire Marshall Sandy Roberts said the fire is under control, but crews are still dealing with hot spots and are actively looking for the point of origin. Nobody was home at the time. One dog was in the house but was removed safely. Desiree Rood, a neighbor across the street from the house, noticed flames coming from the house at about 1:45 p.m., and called 911. She next knocked on the door of the burning house and then attempted to fight the fire with a garden hose.
