A year ago, a massive gas explosion destroyed a bagel shop on NW 23rd Avenue. Thankfully no one was killed by the blast, however three firefighters and several other people were hurt. First responders are healing, but say it's a day they will never forget. Portland Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Jaime Klum was the incident commander on October 19, 2016 and was one of the first on the scene. “I have 21 years of service in the department and I have never seen anything like where it exploded like this,” said Klum.
