Sunday was no basic bingo game. It was all for lifetime Fairfax firefighter D.J. Leach.
Leach was clearing downed trees on Monday after last week's wind storm, when a tree fell, hitting him in the chest. He suffered several serious injuries.
"He broke several bones in his back, his sternum, some ribs, and currently has no feeling below the waist,” said Jay Leach, D.J. Leach’s son.
Sunday night the community came together to help Leach and his family.
"When we found out what happened to D.J., we had a week and we pulled it together to be here for them and their family,” said Heather Sanders of the Fairfax Fire Department Auxiliary.
