Jeff Griffin, CEO of WHA, Inc – Licensed Agent & Consultant, Jeff has been active in fire department risk management and safety since 1979.  In 1991, Jeff was asked to develop a state-wide safety program to improve the dismal loss history of the Oregon fire service.  At that time, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI ) ranked Oregon 26 out of 36 reported states in 1995, Oregon's ranking had improved to number one. Jeff is recognized nationally as a leader in Fire Department Risk Management and Safety.  Jeff volunteers as the Division Secretary for the Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA), the Executive Director of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association and the Executive Director of the Northwest Leadership Seminar.  Several times each year Jeff travels to Washington DC with board members of the WFCA and meets with nationally elected officials from 10 states to address safety issues.  Jeff continues to refine his 42 presentations addressing the evolution of fire department risk management and safety philosophy.  Jeff is finishing his work on two International Association of Fire Chiefs task forces.  Jeff is active with Oklahoma State University legendary IFSTA firefighter training program.  In 2009 Jeff was a member of the validation committee for IFSTA's newest firefighter safety training manual.  Jeff’s work added three chapters to the current 13 chapter book.  His work focused on firefighter culture and human error.  He continues to work with several national groups on fire service risk management issues and firefighter safety.  Jeff has been honored as the 4th Silver Trumpet recipient for life time achievement.  Jeff has also been recognized with honors from eight different fire service non-profit organizations as a leader in fire service safety issues.
