VIDEO: A Bridgeport man is being hailed as a hero for rushing to the rescue of a senior citizen whose home was destroyed by fire.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 500 block of Soundview Avenue.
Witnesses said a female got safely out of the house, but a male senior remained inside.
Neighbors said, Joshua Burgos, who was visiting his mom across the street, rushed into the burning house and rescued the older resident.
"The little kid inside of me just figured to jump inside and help. So, I know that sounds like a cliché to say that, but I just wanted to be a helpful citizen," said Burgos.
Officials say the cause of that fire remains under investigation.

Manchester firefighters had to do some bushwhacking to get to a vehicle that sailed into a wooded area Sunday afternoon.
The crash took place at 1:43 p.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 384, just prior to Exit 4, state police said.
Rescue crews had to cut several trees to get access to the vehicle, which had flipped over, fire officials said.
Once firefighters were about to lift the vehicle, the two occupants were extricated in about 15 minutes, fire officials said. Both were taken to an area trauma center with serious injuries, fire officials said. The driver was identified by state police as a 29-year-old New Britain woman and the passenger as a 29-year-old New Britain man.
According to a state police crash report, troopers detected the smell of alcohol on the driver and suspect she was drunk at the time of the crash.
