Village of Skokie
Location: Skokie, IL
Performs a variety of tasks related to technical and field work related to current fire prevention methods, fire inspections and enforcement of adopted codes and ordinances for the Village of Skokie and the Skokie Fire Department. Inspects existing and new commercial properties, conducts ongoing fire alarm, fire pump and installed systems inspections. Reviews hydraulic calculations for accuracy and completeness. Works closely with Skokie businesses, the Village Building department, Village staff, and the general public. Performs electronic data entry and other related duties as assigned. Hours worked per week will be less than 20. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Knowledge with NFPA & IFC codes required. Understanding of architectural drawings and essential Fire Prevention mathematical calculations. Experience in fire prevention preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license, excellent oral and written communication skills and be proficient using computers and basic office technology. Hourly salary range: $29.88 - $38.16.
