Part-time Firefighter

The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Cannon Beach Fire District has designed a very successful part-time program that is expanding. Recently 3 of our part-time have been hired, and a couple more are on other hiring lists. This creates the need to fill some vacancies. Currently there is budgeted for 1 part-time firefighter per day, but the plan is to staff 2 per day, and 3 in the summer months. Part-time firefighters will work with the shift firefighters to staff from 0800 to 1800 or 2000 daily, depending on time of year. Part-time firefighters are limited to 36 hours a week but are asked to commit to a minimum of 20 hours a month. Part-time have may be offered to work as a temp on a 48-hour shift to fill full-time vacation or sick. The primary function is emergency response but will be asked to assist with tasks such as hydrant, station, and vehicle maintenance. Being a part-time firefighter is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing organization that does more than just fire and EMS. Cannon Beach Fire has a very active technical rope and surf rescue program as well as recently took over the beach lifeguard program.
