Knowing there's a health care crisis in Maine, one man is answering the call to help. He's the "newest" firefighter and paramedic for the Augusta Fire Department. “It’s like we never skipped a beat. That’s why they call it brotherhood, you’re always family,” Augusta Firefighter and Paramedic Greg Coniff said. After eight years away from the station, Coniff has returned from "retirement." “The city of Augusta was having a hard time filling vacancies that they had with qualified candidates,” Coniff said. So Coniff is back at the place he worked for 19 years, according to the department. Chief David Groder welcomes his experience. “For us that’s a great opportunity,” Groder said. “He’s trained in our organization, he’s trained in our system. It’s been a little while since he’s been gone but he’s able to step right back in.”
