VIDEO: On Wednesday morning the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders arrived in Lexington for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. A flag that once flew in New York at the World Trade Center after the September 11th attacks was displayed on the flag pole at the Lexington fire department for 9 minutes and 11 seconds during the ceremony.
The Virginia Patriot Guard Riders rode to Lexington from Richmond on Wednesday morning as they journey to different locations for others to see. On their way to Lexington, other groups joined in on the ride along the way. “When you touch it, there’s life in it. It’s the lives of the people that died in the towers,” said Ride Captain, Bobby Lipes.
Since 2001 the flag has been in the possession of different motorcycle groups across the nation. 4 years ago, it was given to the Virginia Patriot Guard Riders who continue to carry out the mission.
