Fire crews from across Steuben County are on the scene of a major fire in the village of Bath. Officials say the fire was under control as of 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Emergency calls began coming in around 9PM Monday, for a fire at 36 Delaware Avenue, locally known as the former Babcock Ladder Company. The building is currently operated by Clark Specialty, an equipment manufacturer.
Flames and smoke could be seen for miles away, as crews worked to battle the flames. As of 11:45PM, it was still an active scene.
"Pretty much at this point, [it's] 100% destroyed. The fire's in the back, we tried to get to it as much as we could, it wasn't safe as the roof and everything started falling in at that point, we had to keep pulling people back, just a lot of volume of fire of what we could get to," said John Conrad, Public Information Officer for the Bath Volunteer Fire Department.
