Firefighters from Anchor Point and Ninilchik doused a large vehicle fire in Anchor Point on Sunday, according to the Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Services. Personnel from Anchor Point Fire and EMS were dispatched at 6:12 p.m. on Monday, along with Alaska State Troopers, to respond to an outdoor fire on Greenfield Road, which is located off North Fork Road in Anchor Point. They found about 10 vehicles ablaze among a pile of scrap vehicles, according to a press release. “Sufficient water supply could not be established quickly enough to keep the fire from spreading throughout the remaining vehicles,” the release states. The fire engine used in the initial attack on the fire was then removed and used instead to protect the house nearest the fire. The fire eventually spread through the entire pile, involving 300-400 vehicles, according to the release.
