Managers at the Swan Lake Fire say that all the firelines held after what they say were the strongest winds in two weeks over the weekend. They say that sustained southwest winds of 10 mph blew through the Kenai for much of Sunday reaching gusts of up to 20 mph, which blew down many trees. It also prompted managers to pull out personnel to avoid the threat of firefighters getting hit by fire-weakened trees. Fortunately, all the firelines around the fire held. Managers say that fire activity on the southern and southeastern flanks of the fire near Sterling and Cooper Landing have been predictable, so mop up operations.
