VIDEO: Hoover firefighters battled a massive apartment fire Tuesday morning that affected the entire complex in some way.
The blaze started just before 9 a.m. at the Hawthorne at Wisteria apartment complex on Regal Circle, according to Hoover fire Capt. Scott West.
By 9:40 a.m., firefighters had the flames under control but were still working to extinguish hotspots. West said no injuries have been reported, and the primary search of units was clear. Officials are about to conduct a secondary search.
One woman on the scene said her son lived in one of the now-burned units. He was in the shower when someone knocked on his door and told him to get out. The man, who only has lived in the Hawthorne apartments for about six months, grabbed his dog and fled.
It’s unknown if anyone in the complex was injured.
While West did not specify the number of units burned, he said every unit in the complex will have some degree of damage.
