A final farewell for a Baldwin County man today as a miles long procession brought out firefighters and truckers. Sunday was about paying tribute to Joe Hadley who passed away at 49. For 15 miles through the streets of Baldwin County Sunday afternoon, friends and family honored Hadley a volunteer firefighter in Baldwin County and a truck driver. “If you didn't know him, it was your loss, he didn't meet a stranger,” said Gopher McKinley, a friend. “He had a heart of gold.” For 15 years Hadley had been a volunteer firefighter with the Perdido Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a truck driver for about 30 years. “That was his only request that he had, a trucker’s funeral, so we made it happen,” McKinley said. About 20 fire trucks showed up to pay their respects and to take part in the procession, along with about 20 truckers.
