A Montgomery woman is facing arson charges after admitting to investigators she intentionally started a fire. Ashley Nicole Harvey, 26, is charged with arson first degree. According to an arrest affidavit, the charges are related to a fire which took place June 17 at 1100 block of Oak Street around 1 p.m.. Firefighters were called to the home on a call of a possible fire and when they arrived, units found fire damage to the back of the residence. The Bureau of Investigations came to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. It was later determined that the fire was incendiary in nature. The course of the investigation also determined Harvey to be a possible suspect, according to the affidavit. On Tuesday, Harvey was detained and transported to the Montgomery Fire Department headquarters for questioning. According to Capt. Wood with the MFR Investigative Division, while being interviewed Harvey confessed to using a lighter to ignite gasoline that was thrown on the rear of the residence.
