The Dothan Fire Department issued a no-burn order within the city limits Monday evening because of ongoing dry conditions.
According to a press release, no burn permits will be issued by the Fire Prevention Division until the area receives significant rainfall. This order also applies to burning debris in containers.
Fire Chief Larry Williams says, "The safety of our citizens and the protection of their property will always be paramount in our decision-making process. Due to the lack of rainfall, coupled with low humidity and windy conditions over the past weeks, conditions are too dangerous to allow any outdoor burning at this time."
The department will continue to monitor weather conditions and the drought situation.
