While firefighters with the Theodore Volunteer Fire Department were out battling a blaze Thursday, police say, a man stole one of their trucks from the fire station. It was Thursday morning when police responded to the Circle K at Theodore Dawes Road and I-10 in reference to a stolen pickup truck found belonging to the Theodore Volunteer Fire Department. The volunteer firefighters tracked the truck to the location and found Jeramy Bexley, 32, fleeing from the driver’s seat, police said. They were able to apprehend him. Further investigation by police revealed that their fire station was also broken into and equipment and tools taken. Officers recovered some of those items in a nearby dirt pit and others at Bexley’s residence, police said.
