Mayor Woody Jacobs presented the budget during the council’s regular meeting, and said each employee will be getting a 2 percent cost of living raise and a 2 percent step raise, totaling a 4 percent raise in all.
Jacobs said city employees will be getting a one-time supplement of $600, and the city will also be covering an increase in health insurance costs.
“We are very fortunate to have some really good employees with the City of Cullman,” he said.
Though smaller than last year’s, the FY 2020 budget still includes new projects and equipment for city departments, particularly with paving around the city, Jacobs said.
Councilman Andy Page highlighted a few of the public safety budget items, including eight new police patrol vehicles, 18 patrol laptops, 42 new handheld radios for the Fire Department and a Lucas chest compression device.
