Two construction workers, helping in the renovation of Bryant-Denny Stadium, were injured Saturday when beams fell on a piece of equipment they were operating. Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue spokeswoman Holly Whigham told news outlets that the workers were operating a manlift that was struck when the beams fell at around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Both workers were trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters before being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, she said. The workers’ conditions weren’t known as of Saturday night. The stadium, which opened in 1929, is currently undergoing renovations. The first stage of the $92.5 million renovation project began in November.
