Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks will soon be on his way home to recover, after a lengthy hospital stay.
Chief Sparks posted an update about his medical situation on social media today, with many thanks for all the people who've supported him throughout that time. "First, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His saving grace and for sparing my life. Second, words aren’t enough to thank my darling wife. She has been by my side the entire time. She had to go through most of it by herself due to the restrictions at the hospital," posted Chief Sparks.
Chief Sparks also thanked his son and daughter-in-law, the Oxford Fire Department, Mayor and City Council, Brookside Baptist Church and the citizens of Oxford for their prayers and help.
"I am a lucky person, on August 15 I went into cardiac arrest as I walked into the ER at Brookwood," said Chief Sparks in the social media post.
