Firefighters, paramedics and all other first responders are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. However, some are still questionable about the vaccine itself. “The thing that I guess shocked me the most is how few of our members on the front end were willing to sign up and take the vaccination,” Dothan Paramedic Battalion Chief Sean Gibson said. “Now what we plan to do today is we’re going to relaunch that same survey because what we found is with those answers that those provided, we’ve had a lot more, we feel, are signing up than actually in our survey.” Gibson received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine recently and will be receiving his second dose at the end of January but he did explain he felt slightly ill after his first dose. Other fire chiefs reported they did not have as many side effects but had some soreness at injection site. Dothan Fire and Rescue will continue to schedule and receive the vaccine in the near future.
