The Cherokee County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security recently held multi-agency training courses consisting of public safety and military personnel from across Alabama as well as Fayette County Georgia. The Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400 courses were taught by instructors from the Alabama Fire College. The classes were held at the Cherokee County Emergency Operations Center Training facility in Centre. Persons serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff are required to complete the courses. Director Rogers says “this course teaches students how to prepare for, respond to, mitigate and recover from expanding and complex incidents or emergencies along with disasters.”
