One person was killed in an apartment fire in Birmingham overnight. According to Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services, crews responded to an apartment fire on Beacon Crest Lane around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived on scene to discover smoke pouring out of an apartment. One person was rescued from the apartment and treated and released at the scene. However, the other occupant of the apartment died as a result of the fire. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. Birmingham Fire and Rescue continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
