Firefighters were quick to extinguish a fire that damaged a home's patio area and a bedroom at the 1300 block of West 13th Street Wednesday afternoon. The Yuma Fire Department said firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of 1365 South 13th Street and found the home's rear patio area on fire. The fire broke a bedroom window and began to extend into the home's bedroom. Firefighters quickly stopped the fire from spreading and extinguished it. Fire officials confirmed that no one was home at the time but workers were there painting a room inside the house. All workers evacuated safely. Firefighters initially could not track a family dog and it was believed to have run from the fire scene. The dog was later found unharmed and hiding in a bedroom closet.
