The Tritle Fire, which charred three acres about seven miles south of Prescott is 100% contained, according to spokesperson Debbie Maneely of the Prescott National Forest late Sunday night.
Firefighters left the Mt. Tritle area about 7 p.m. Sunday after establishing a “black line around the perimeter of the fire.”
Maneely said the firefighters will return Monday morning to finish mopping up and check the status of the interior burning. Firefighters from three different departments responded to a smoke report near Mt. Tritle at 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
Several Prescott National Forest engines and a Type 3 Helicopter were used to fight the blaze, along with members of the Groom Creek Fire Department and the Prescott Hotshots, a hotshot crew with the forest service based in Prescott.
Deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with traffic and road closures near Mt. Tritle during the fire.
