Fire Chief Scott Miller has been named Fire Chief of the Year by the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association.
Miller was presented with a fire ax at Monday’s Casa Grande City Council meeting in recognition of the award.
“I’ve known Chief Miller since the early '80s,” said Randy Karrer, the fire chief from Golder Ranch Fire District. Karrer nominated Miller for the award. “Scott is an exceptional individual.” Karrer praised Miller’s commitment to his department, city and community.
“He serves in a variety of other positions that are just not necessary for anyone in the fire service to do,” he said. “It’s his character, ladies and gentlemen. This is a man who is absolutely a servant leader. Scott’s motto is, ‘It’s about you. It’s not about me. It’s about you.’”
