VIDEO: The San Luis Fire Department is trying to educate local elementary schools on fire safety in honor of fire prevention month.
With October being fire prevention month, the fire officials are hosting assemblies where they talk to students on how to be fire safe, health, and what to do in the case of an emergency.
The assemblies are geared towards first to third-graders to engrave it into their minds how to be fire safe from a young age.
Students at Ed Pastor Elementary were excited to see the fire department at their school. They were given demonstrations on what a fire detector sounds like, who to call in the case of an emergency, and what to do if ever on fire.
The students practiced stop, drop, cover your face, and roll drills.
