PHOTO: On Friday January 24th, at about 3:45pm, Prescott Regional Communication Center received a 911 call for a 21-year-old male who fell off a rock ledge. When initial fire crews arrived on scene they found that the patient had been hiking/rock scrambling off trail with two friends in the Highway 89/East Boulder Creek Canyon area of the Prescott Dells and had fallen off about a 10 to 15 foot rock ledge.
Native Air Ambulance was vital in helping locate the patient from the air and helped guide those initial fire crews into the scene. Prescott Fire Dept. and CAFMA, in addition to YCSO and Lifeline Ambulance, worked to extricate the patient from the point of injury to a helicopter landing zone off of Old Highway 89A in the Dells.
The patient was then transported to a level one trauma center down in Phoenix with substantial head injuries.
