VIDEO: Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that sparked overnight at the Arizona Democratic Party building in Phoenix.
Crews were called to the building around 1:00 a.m. Friday near Thomas Road and Central Avenue for reports of smoke.
When they arrived they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the structure. Firefighters quickly used hose lines to enter the building for search, rescue, and fire attack, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Ladder crews were sent to the roof to cut ventilation holes to assist in fire control.
Firefighters were eventually able to extinguish the fire and ensure the building was clear of anyone inside. Steven Slugocki, a chairman with the Maricopa County Democratic Party, released a statement saying, "The MCDP staff is speechless. Our organization has worked out of this building for over a decade.
