State health officials reported more than 4,000 new coronavirus cases in a 24-hour period Thursday morning. The last time our state saw that high of a number was in early July.
Arizona Department of Health Services added 4,123 confirmed cases on Nov. 19, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 287,225.
As of Thursday morning, 6,384 people in Arizona have died from COVID-19, data shows. ABC15 data expert Garrett Archer says Thursday's case count is the fifth-highest our state has seen since reporting started during the pandemic. On Wednesday, Governor Doug Ducey held a press conference, urging Arizonans to wear masks, wash their hands, and avoid large gatherings ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
