A pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing the street near 19th Avenue and Bell Road Thursday evening.
A 44-year-old man was crossing the street against the signal at about 9:30 p.m. when an SUV hit him, Phoenix Police Sgt. Andy Williams said.
The man, who had not been identified, was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Williams said investigators do not believe the driver was impaired, but it's not clear if the pedestrian might have been.
