VIDEO: A woman was found dead and another was transported to the hospital following a house fire in north Phoenix early Saturday morning.
The Phoenix Fire Department says the fire happened at about 6 a.m. near 64th Street and Greenway Road. The first report was of smoke billowing from a bedroom window. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they encountered a working fire, Capt. Todd Keller said. While one team started attacking the fire, another conducted a standard search operation to rescue anybody who might have been inside. That's when they found the dead woman. A second woman suffered minor smoke inhalation, Keller said. She was in stable condition when she was taken to the hospital.
