VIDEO: After starting the week in the 70s, safety agencies are warning folks to be careful as we end the week in the 90s. Due to experiencing triple-digit temperatures during the summer, both Phoenix Fire and Banner Health say they encountered many people who were confident in their “heat tolerance” but ended up in the emergency room because they weren’t prepared. Whether you’re exercising or running daily errands, Dr. Janna Assar says to load up on water over the next few days, even if you’re not thirsty. “Thirst and sweat are really late signs of dehydration, so we actually don’t want to get to that. We want to prevent heat exhaustion heat cramps, which could lead to what we know as the most severe as heat stroke,” she said.
