VIDEO: Four people have been hurt after a crash involving a fire hydrant submerged a car in a sinkhole near a popular Phoenix mall on Wednesday morning. According to Phoenix police, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near 75th and Virginia avenues, near the entrance of Desert Sky Mall. An SUV and sedan collided, causing the sedan driver to hit a fire hydrant that flooded part of the intersection. The man inside the sedan was able to escape as his car sunk into the muddy water. Police say the woman inside the SUV was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Three others, including the sedan driver, suffered minor injuries. Video from the scene showed a car sinking into mud and water as an apparent sinkhole formed, while another vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage.
