A fire ripped through a mobile home on Mother’s Day, leaving a single mom and her family homeless. Now, the community is stepping up to help them get on their feet. The fire happened on Sunday afternoon at Laguna Mobile Home and RV Park in Yuma. Veronica Mojarro has two children who were with her at the time of the fire. She said the fire started with a candle she had lit up. “It lit up our curtain. Before I could even put it out, the whole wall was engulfed in flames,” Mojarro said. Rural Metro Fire Yuma County responded to the fire. The fire started spreading to two more homes, but they were able to contain it. “Everything we own, our car, our photos, everything. Our shoes, we lost it all. With our pets which is hurting me the most,” said Mojarro. Flames spread so fast that she said her first priority was ensuring her two kids were safe.
