VIDEO: A wildfire forced people in a community south of Florence to evacuate on Wednesday.
The Pinebrooke Fire is burning near Dogwood Road and Pinebrook Lane in the Cactus Forest area, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said.
About an hour after they were told to evacuate, around 3:30 p.m., those who lived in the area were allowed to return to their homes.
Officials said originally that a house fire led to the wildfire, but they backtracked and later said a house fire was involved, so it’s unclear what came first, the house fire or the brush fire.
Fire crews said the fire has burned about 5 acres and is spreading northeast, burning through grass and brush.
Just before 3 p.m., fire officials said forward progress has been stopped.
One building was being threatened to the north of the fire.
