Several people were injured in a stampede after a rapper's giveaway event in Hollywood drew a large crowd that grew unruly Monday night, officials said.
The victims were trampled outside the event at Shoe Palace, on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, where attendees said they had lined up five to six hours before rapper Phora showed up.
The Anaheim artist had invited fans to meet him at 7 p.m. at the shoe store, where he said he would be giving out free merchandise and shoes in a message posted to his Facebook page Sunday night.
"it’s FREE, I just wanna meet you guys," the post reads. "Buying new shoes for anyone who needs them and giving away a bunch of FREE YT/Love Is Hell shirts to whoever comes."
