The Vacaville City Council has voted to approve a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the city and Vacaville Firefighters Association, but only after scrutiny by the public and some council members. The previous MOU expired June 30, 2018. In January of that year, the city began negotiations with VFA and the two groups met over the course of 18 months to negotiate a successor agreement covering Aug. 1, 2019 to Oct. 31, 2022. Among the terms outlined in the MOU are a vacation accrual increase for shift personnel from 72 to 96 hours for two or fewer years of service, a lump sum vacation of 120 hours granted upon completion of 15 years of service for shift personnel and 40 hours for non-shift personnel, increasing the current calendar year maximum benefit for dental from $1,500 to $2,500 and increasing lens allowance from every 24 months to every 12 months.
