Authorities have arrested a man allegedly caught on surveillance video setting fire to a downtown Fillmore building after a "rash" of small fires plagued the city in recent months, officials said.
The video footage concerned a fire reported around 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fillmore Historical Society, 350 Main St., the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said Monday evening. The sheriff's office provides police services in Fillmore. During the past three months, Fillmore has experienced a "rash of fires to trash cans, porta-potties, a shopping cart and three structures," according to the sheriff's office. The incidents all took place late at night or early in the morning, officials said. All were deemed suspicious and resulted in minor property damage.
