Long Beach and the local firefighters union have struck a tentative deal for a new labor contract, the city announced late Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, but officials did not disclose any details.
The Firefighters Association must still ratify the deal — with its members set to vote later in September — before it can go to the City Council for the final okay, the release said. The council is scheduled to consider the contract in October.
The current contract expires at the end of September.
Long Beach officials said details of the new agreement will remain confidential until the union ratifies it.
But the deal, Mayor Robert Garcia said in a statement, is “a fair and balanced contract that will allow us to recruit the best men and women to the department.”
