After 33 years as a firefighter, Dixon Fire Chief Greg Lewis is hanging up his turnouts.
His new chapter — retirement.
The announcement came Friday.
Lewis joined Dixon Fire as a volunteer in 1987.
In 1996, he was hired on as a fire captain.
In 2010, Lewis was promoted to division chief/fire marshal.
Eight years later, he was named fire chief.
“Chief Lewis has served the community, the city and the firefighters with distinction, poise and integrity for the last 33 years,” reads the department’s Facebook page. “Congratulations on your well-earned retirement Chief Lewis.”
In an interview with The Reporter in 2018, Lewis said he loved being a firefighter.
