Two firefighters injured as ‘rapidly-moving’ fire burns in Palm Springs

A rapidly moving brush fire is burning south of Tramway Road in Palm Springs. Two firefighters were injured, one was hospitalized for heat exhaustion, according to the Palm Springs Fire Department. The fire was initially reported at around 11:15 a.m. It quickly grew to 10-acres. By 12:30 p.m, the fire has grown to 15-acres. As of 2:40 p.m., the fire has burned 20 acres. About 75 firefighters are on scene including crews from Cal Fire, PS Fire, BLM fire, forest service. The cause of the fire remain under investigation. No homes are threatened by the flames and no evacuation orders have been issued at this time. As of 4:00 p.m. , about 70 percent was contained. One engine plans to be on scene as they monitor the hot spots.
