Firefighters with the US Forest Service are keeping a close eye on ten fires that started from lightning on Thursday, May 13, 2021. As of Sunday morning the largest of the ten fires was marked as 2.5 acres in size. According to the Forest Service there are no closures or evacuations relating to these fires. The Shasta Trinity National Forest meteorologists said they are watching a few isolated thunderstorms that might linger in the area on Sunday. Dry weather is predicted to return Sunday afternoon and Monday, with another chance for thunderstorms Wednesday or Thursday.
