A woman killed in the McKinney Fire was an employee of the Klamath National Forest who lived in the community of Klamath River. On Monday, the U.S. Forest Service said Kathy Shoopman died in her home after the McKinney Fire burned through her community. Shoopman started working at the Bald Mountain Lookout, west of Happy Camp, in 1974. She moved on to work at the Lake Mountain Lookout and the Bickhorn Lookout, a post that she has worked at since 1993, the U.S. Forest Service said. Shoopman lived in the community of Klamath River for nearly 50 years. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Action News Now on Monday that four people have died and it is working to determine if there are more deaths. As of Monday morning, the McKinney Fire has burned 60,379 acres and is 40% contained.
