Funeral plans have been finalized for Friday for Joseph “Joey" De Anda, a Santa Barbara County firefighter-paramedic killed this month in a skiing accident in Fresno County. The 33-year-old employee of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department died Jan. 8 after crashing into a tree while skiing at China Peak Mountain Resort. He was wearing a helmet. Santa Maria Valley residents likely will see a large-than-normal presence of fire engineers, ambulances and other first-responder vehicles as they travel from the church to the Santa Maria Cemetery. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, but entrance to Pacific Christian Center will be limited to family and close friends because of COVID-19 precautions. A live stream of the service will be available.
